More about Wet & View Ink

Wet & View ink makes printed matter interactive by applying a temporary veil over the underlying message. This ink forms a light-coloured, highly veiled layer that makes the print underneath less visible. Only when the surface is moistened, e.g. with a drop of water or a wet finger, does the message reappear clearly. This creates a playful and surprising effect that stimulates the user's curiosity.

For optimum results, some delivery specifications apply. The underlying print must be completely dry and finished with a dispersion varnish on the print side; press varnish should be avoided. As the ink can never be applied completely opaque, something always remains visible on the surface - coarse texts or high-contrast images will therefore be recognisable even without wetting. It is therefore important to keep the underlying print subtle and not use too much contrast to limit legibility.

Wet & View ink is not suitable for application in humid conditions or for lotteries, as the layer always remains slightly translucent. Nevertheless, the technique offers plenty of opportunities in creative or promotional contexts, where experience and interaction are key. The result is printed matter that surprises and evokes involvement, because the message only becomes visible after a simple action with water.
